I purchased a bespoke Red Special from Loxley Custom Guitars in December of 2020, and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase!
The build is beautiful, with metal flake paint, and an exquisitely lacquered fretboard! The neck is thicker than what you would find on a standard BMG, making it extremely comfortable, even with my very small hands. The hardware keeps the guitar in tune, making it a joy to play!
The guitar was well packaged for its trip from the UK to the US, and arrived safely in less than a week.
Matt has great customer service, and has always promptly assisted me with any questions or concerns. I couldn’t be happier!

"Having found Loxley Custom Guitars on my Instagram feed, I was intrigued by the way Matt published the progress of his projects on social media. I loved how he was building guitars and I decided to make contact to see how he felt about building me a guitar.
Matt is a really nice, approachable guy with a real passion for his craft. After chatting to him more, we decided we'd go ahead with a bespoke build. I was involved throughout the entire process and Matt regularly updated me with photos of the progress. I visited his workshop a few times during the build and really felt part of it.

When I first approached Matt with my suggestions, they were transparent with their estimations, costs and buildability.

I got in touch with Matt after seeing his work on social media and I am so glad I did! I explained to him that I wanted to replicate an original 50s les paul junior and right from the very beginning it was clear to me that Matt not only knew his stuff but his passion for making guitars shone through. He talked through all the different pick up options and period correct capacitors in order to gain the ultimate vintage sound.
The great thing about Matt is that he loves to make guitars that are a little bit different to your usual stuff, so we ended up talking through the options to make my guitar unique to me. Throughout the whole process Matt always kept in touch and gave me regular updates with pictures that I've even created an album from because there were so many.
I was even lucky enough to meet Matt when I went to pick my guitar up where he showed me some other projects that he was working on which made me realise just how diverse his luthier skills are. Just to top it all off he is really nice chap too!
